On my way to Now
Over the bridge to nowhere
Across the long lake
Through the long leaf wood.
Tripping over black holes,
All by the light of a burnt out star.
On the way to Now.
Oh the wonders I have seen…
Feathers dropped by angels
Faces of guardians in the popcorn sky
Above my prone body,
Lain to rest from a long life of Future.
Colored Sparkles in the air;
They let me know that the molecules are still there.
Totems to speak to me,
Winged messengers swooping down,
Just barely missing my arm,
But fully touching my heart.
Eyes of Horus in the wood grain of my yoga studio.
Diamonds on my mat.
Mandalas in my friend’s eye,
And Pearls of Wisdom from my firstborn son.
Compassion and Love in a hard heart.
Glimpses of the softening of an aging man,
A man who has just rediscovered magic.
Stones of glitter and Fairies,
A well- worn road traveled by horses, hippies,
And bears Oh My!
A magnet of the strongest kind,
Drawing me infinitely to my Love.
The clearest of Minds,
The kind of clear that only comes with Mindlessness.
The heart of the largest proportions,
The kind that can handle radical Love and Compassion.
But what of the things I have lost?
Strewn along the path of my way to Now?
Oh, lost I have
But loss I no longer feel.
The baggage of a past path.
The commitments that became uncommitable,
Threatening to have me committed.
The mind of an ego run amok.
The rules of a world that never accepted me,
And I never accepted.
Rings of promises broken.
Love with condition.
The control of the uncontrollable,
All an illusion that burnt out with the star.
The Truth is that it is as it is,
And all is well.
On the way to Now.
It seems that the path was convoluted,
For you see there is no path at all.
On the way to Now is always Here.
On the way to Now is always Now.
The Bridge to Nowhere is exactly where you should be.
The long lake is a beautiful swim in the present.
And the long leaf forest is just the type of hike that happens in the moment.
On the way to Now.
Across the bridge to nowhere.
I took a long lake swim.
Climbed out on the banks of the long leaf forest.
Tripping over black holes proves to be great fun.
All by the light of a burnt out star, with a silver lining of a moon.
Happy travels back to You!
